N4051 For Sale by David Hutton

The following information was provided in an email from David Hutton:

This Mite is S/N 248 and the tail number is 4051. It was built in 1951. The engine was upgraded from a Continental A65-8 hp to a 75 hp Continental (C75-12). It has both a starter and generator, with landing lights, dash light, and wing marker lights.

Total time on airframe is approximately 1100 hours. The engine was rebuilt in July 2010 by D&B Aircraft Engine Inc. of Bethany, Ok (phone number 405-495-0457) and has a little over 10 hours on the rebuild. D&B installed new rings, bearings, yellow tagged crank shaft, reground lifter bodies to match reground camshalf and reground all the valves. Jim Carroll of Carroll Aviation installed the engine and replaced the starter clutch after the engine rebuild.

The main fuel tank holds 10 usable gallons and has a 4 gallon auxilliary tank below the main tank which supplies fuel as needed to the main tank by an electric transfer pump. It burns around 4-1/2 gals at 2100 rpm and around 5 to 5-1/2 at 2400. The Mite cruises at around 120 mph at 2160 rpm and 130 at 2400 rpm depending on the load. The stall speed is about 43 mph and it climbs out at 1200+ fpm.

It has an Icom A200 720 channel flip flop com and an AT50 transponder with alititude encoder. Like all Mooneys, the Mite has retractable landing gear which is accomplished with a "Johnson bar" (a hand pull or push gear handle).

William Cunningham of Terrell, Texas did the annual on 11/04/2010. I have all logs and papers going back over the years.

Anyone much over 6'1" will find the cockpit canopy touching their head and anyone much over 225 lbs will have a hard time fitting comfortably in the M-18C. I am told it flies like a British Spitfire and although I have never flown a Spitfire, I can assure you that the plane is very responsive.

Boy, does it fly great! I hate to see it go but I really want something I can have my son with me when I fly. I always feel guilty leaving him behind....

Please be aware that the pictures of 4051 were taken before the engine was rebuilt so obviously, the engine now looks different (cleaner, etc).
